Holy Carrot, London

There’s a new restaurant in Spitalfields that deserves a spot on your London list.

Recently opened inside Old Spitalfields Market, Holy Carrot is the second location from the team behind the original Notting Hill restaurant, and yes, it’s very good.

The concept is entirely plant-based, but before anyone starts imagining sad salads or overly virtuous dinners, let’s be clear: this place is about flavor first. Big flavor.

Executive Chef Daniel Watkins focuses heavily on fire cooking and fermentation techniques, creating dishes that feel rich, layered, and properly satisfying.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets the tone. Warm lighting, cozy interiors, relaxed energy, it’s the perfect spot for an evening where you want something elevated without committing to a full “serious dinner” mood. Chic, but comfortable. Stylish, but not trying too hard. Exactly the balance we like.

One thing we’ve consistently noticed with strong plant-based restaurants is how creative they become with spices, textures, and depth of flavor, and Holy Carrot absolutely understands the assignment. Every dish feels thoughtful and developed, without becoming overly complicated.

Another important detail: it’s dog friendly. Which means yes, your dog is welcome, and yes, the staff will probably be just as excited to see them as you are.

And now, the real reason you need to save this article: the sticky toffee pudding.

Order it. Non-negotiable.

Rich, comforting, and exactly the kind of dessert that guarantees you’ll already be planning your return visit halfway through the first bite.

Good food, good wine, relaxed atmosphere, and a menu that even non plant-based diners will happily obsess over.

Save this one for your next dinner in East London.
